Venereal diseases, or more famously known as sexually-transmitted diseases, are now very rampant because of today's more liberated society. Today's youth are not properly taught about the dangers of these diseases and are thus easily afflicted.
Sexually transmitted diseases also proliferate these days because of people's disregard for who their sexual partners are. The young have sex freely with just about anyone, and are unprotected most of the times. They became easy prey to these venereal diseases, which unfortunately attack without warning. Before they know it, they have contracted syphilis and gonorrhoea. Worse, they could be infected with the dreaded HIV.
In order to protect yourself from these diseases, you should understand the virtue of safe sex. Safe sex does not cover safety from unwanted pregnancy, but also from STDs. Means such as a condom does not only prevent the sperm from getting into the womb, but it also prevents a non-infected person from getting unwittingly infected by the afflicted. Though it could be said that condoms null the sensation, it is more important to null the infection.
Since sex could be said to have become an accepted part of majority of today's society, there is no harm to pursuing it only if a person manages to get himself the adequate protection. It is best to have sex only with someone you are certain not to have STDs. If there is the urge that is hard to resist, however, one should protect himself with condoms which are readily available for them.
